Close your eyes and imagine a cinema where the magic of the silver screen comes alive even before the movie even starts. Imagine a Baroque decor designed by Chantal Peyrat, one of France’s best modern designers, furnished with spacious velvet wing chairs and high-perched sofas, and adorned with scintillating photos of the cosmos and its brightest stars, as well as Hollywood and beyond. Imagine a moment in time when the champagne brings added sparkle to breathtaking works of art from the past and present. If you open your eyes, your dreams will come true… here, in the Cinémathèque Diane, the private screening room at the Hôtel Barrière Le Majestic Cannes.

From September onwards, it is in this palace-hotel on the Croisette that just 35 fortunate movie fans can enjoy an exclusive experience, namely the “Barrière Ciné-Club”, an extraordinary and unique weekly movie screening that takes place at 6pm every Sunday. Here, art combines with art de vivre, where guests can savour a glass of champagne and a selection of canapés with the compliments of the hotel.

And that’s not all! For the first few Barrière Ciné-Club evenings, the 5-star Majestic will also be including a visit to one of the hotel’s five magnificent suites.

This remarkable series of evenings will begin on Sunday 10 September with a homage to Michèle Morgan and a screening of Port of Shadows, the masterpiece by Marcel Carné, along with a visit to the brand-new suite dedicated to French cinema in all its glory. A true feast for the eyes!

This will be followed on 17 September by La Vie en Rose, the famous biopic of Edith Piaf. After the film, guests will enjoy a visit to the Christian Dior Suite. The common denominator here is of course Marion Cotillard, the icon of this fashion house on Avenue Montaigne in Paris who portrayed Edith Piaf so beautifully in Olivier Dahan’s feature-length movie.

On 24 September, the Life of Pi, directed by Ang Lee, will combine with a visit to the Riviera Suite. This short season will end in impressive fashion on 1 October with a stylish and action-packed evening featuring the film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, one of the first-ever James Bond movies, and a visit to the 650m² Majestic Suite, the largest in the hotel with a private swimming pool and a terrace overlooking Cannes Bay.
